Dr Barnardo’s Fringe Season

Come and see the best of the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe without leaving London!

Courtesy of The Water Poet, you can enjoy some of the very best of Edinburgh preview comedy every Thursday evening from 22 June to 20 July.

Each night is a double bill of two brilliant one-hour comedy shows and tickets are amazing value at just £5 for an evening of rib-tickling laughs.

This special season, showcasing the best of this year’s festival is supporting children’s charity, Barnardo’s.

Barnardo’s supports some of the most disadvantaged children and families in London and 100% of ticket sales go to the charity!

Here’s the season in detail:

Thursday, June 22 (Night #1) is…

8 pm – Damian Kingsley – Can’t Dance… Won’t Dance

This year the uptight, irritable, shy yet monstrously arrogant Kingsley has developed dangerously high blood pressure and a phobia of dancing. In this multi award-seeking show, the Roofsmasher considers inhibition, showing off and ludicrous discotheque behaviour.

See 2016 Fringe “4 Star” show Damian’s new 2017 show first!

9:30 pm – Rob Broderick – The Musical In My Mind

Rob is a man with a dream – to write the world’s biggest hip hop musical. Join him for a show that’s two parts Drake, one part Disney, combining hip hop, comedy and animation.

With poetic flourish, Rob dances between playing the part of introspective rapper, pop culture commentator and all-out musical surrealist.

That’s right! Rob from ABANDOMAN is doing a solo-show. A must see!

Thursday, June 29 (Night #2) is…

8 pm- Geoff Norcott – Right Leaning but Well Meaning

Correspondent for BBC2’s The Mash Report, as seen on Question Time (BBC1), Edinburgh Nights & The Daily Politics (BBC2), returns to the fringe following 2016’s sell out run. Writer for Alternative Election (Channel 4), 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4), A League Of Their Own (Sky 1), The Sarah Millican Television Programme (BBC2) and Live At The Apollo (BBC1). Tour support for Katherine Ryan.

See Geoff’s (2016 ‘5 Star’ show) new show. One of the few right-wing pro-Brexit comedians on the circuit (and all round nice-guy)

9:30pm – Andy Storey – No Ordinary Eccentrik

Good Eventide! Human curiosity Andy Storey has always found himself on the outside looking in. He doesn’t want to come in. He’s just looking. Preferring to keep the world and its inhabitants at arm’s length.
Wearing three vests to help with confidence and hair spraying his beard to gain control over at least one aspect of his life, Andy supposes that he is not alone in his rumination, and that every human person is just as eccentric beneath the Mr/Miss/Non-binary NORMAL they show to the rest of the world.

Top act (2016 ‘5 star’ show) and star of the Dr B’s 2016 Comedy Gala, Andy is back with a great new show!

Thursday, July 6 (Night #3) is…

8pm – Joe Jacobs -Ripe

Religion. Rap. Pogs. Sexism. Gaviscon. Mental illness.
Join Joe as he tries to make sense of all this and more prior to his best before date

Catch Joe doing this thing on July 6th.

9:30pm – McCann and Omobitan – The Midnight Hour

The founder of Memoirs of a Geezer and Candlelit Comedy teams up with 2017’s Max Turner Prize winner to double you over with laughter and bend your minds inside out! Steve McCann combines social observations, politics, his London upbringing and city career to deliver enlightening and surreal stand-up. A class act worthy of a sharp suit!

Akin Omobitan’s style is dark and playful. Wrong-footing audiences for sport, he blends shadowy storytelling with murky punchlines to walk you through his life’s grey areas. He’s terrifyingly charming for someone so morally twisted. Sit back and be pulled in!

Comedy team up with Steve McCann (A class act worthy of a sharp suit) and Akin Omobitan (dark and playful). Never since the classic team of Morecambe and Wise or Bert and Ernie has a double act been so anticipated.

Thursday, July 13 (Night #4) is…

8pm- Ashley Haden – We are STILL all c**ts

If you like your politics dark and your comedy darker then you’ve arrived! Join Ash for his dystopian predictions for the world and some big belly laughs along the way. The left, the right, the old, the young, fascists and vegans are all in his sights.

Ashley (2016 ‘4 star’ show) is back! Take a dark, no-holds barred trip through world affairs for part two of his c**nting-trilogy. No for the easily offended!

9:30pm – Leo Kearse – “I Can Make You Tory”

Are you sick of sanctimonious liberals lecturing you about global warming, Jeremy Corbyn and sexism? Award-winning comedian Leo Kearse slaughters liberal sacred cows with razor sharp wit (and actual facts) and shows that it’s right to be right wing.

Leo (2015 UK Pun Champion) Kearse is going to make you see the world through is right-wing eyes. Dare you take the challenge?

Thursday, July 20 (Night #5) is…

8 pm- Darius Davis – Road to Wrestlemania (in HD)

The true story of following your dreams and having them crushed… along with your bones! At 18, weighing a mere ten stone and possessing absolutely no athletic ability, Darius Davies decided a career in pro-wrestling was his dream. Shortly after coming to this conclusion, he suffered a life-changing injury. Road to Wrestlemania is a humorous, nostalgic tale featuring the lows and lows of aspiring to a pro-wrestling career. See actual x-rays and an audition video for Tough Enough, which is so bad you’ll wince. A must-see comedy for fans and non-fans alike

Join Darius (2016 ‘4 Star’ show) on his Road to Wrestlemania, in HD

9:30 pm – Shazia Mirza – With Love From St. Tropez

‘A show about lies and truth- or is that the same thing? Nudity and The Periodic Table, these things hold the key to the future. How much do you wear? What do you look like, and will they let you in? Oh, and don’t you dare wear more than dental floss on a French beach’.

Brilliant Shazia ends the Dr Barnardo’s fringe season in style!
